ANNIE KEOHANE

Growing up in Boston with nine brothers and sisters, I became comfortable in the kitchen at an early age while helping prepare meals for my family.

When I was a teenager in the 70′s, I was influenced by such cookbook classics as Diet for a Small Planet and Laurel’s Kitchen, both of which underline the connection between our diet and our health.

As a young mother, I began a home-based salad dressing business on Martha’s Vineyard island, Ann & Son’s Company, that continues to this day. After moving to Burlington, Vermont I opened a shop with a partner that became a neighborhood favorite called “Dinner to Go” where we sold healthy meals to busy commuters. After attending Hippocrates Health Institute in 2001, I began to focus more on raw and vegan meals.

In recent years, many people have influenced the way I prepare food and teach. In 2010 I attended the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in California, directed by Cherie Soria.  Cherie is a pioneer in the art of transforming raw plant foods into delicious meals. In the book Eat To Live, Dr. Joel Fuhrman promotes a plant-based diet with lots of raw foods, leafy greens, vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts and seeds. This diet has helped Dr. Fuhrman’s patients reverse heart disease, reduce or remove dependence on insulin, control asthma, allergies, autoimmune and numerous other diseases. The China Study by T. Colin Campbell is a peer-reviewed study which examines the science behind plant-based nutrition. Director of Hippocrates Health Institute Brian Clement’s book Living Foods for Optimum Health was also influential.

After working as a live-in private chef with clients throughout the US, I currently live and teach in Colorado in a beautiful valley that has been compared to Provence, France with its organic farms, orchards, wineries and ranches. I welcome you to join me in my peaceful, bed & breakfast style home, surrounded by the majestic Rocky Mountains, to learn how to make the healthiest food on the planet taste great!

I’m a graduate of the Living Light Culinary Arts Intitute in California and the Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida.
